Sept. 10 (Bloomberg) — Few people had heard of “ Slumdog Millionaire” before last year’s Toronto International Film Festival . It went on to win the Oscar for best picture, making it the third time in four years that Toronto has served as a launching pad for the winner of Hollywood’s most prestigious award.
